April 4th, Birth of Ernesto Pesce in Buenos Aires, the first child of Ernesto Pesce (1907-1974), graphic worker, his wife, Catalina Pozzetti (1905-1994) and his sister, Irene Beatriz (1944). They meet while they are militants in the Socialist Party and marry in 1942.
He grows up in the Villa Urquiza neighborhood.
His father’s grandfather, Carlos Pesce (1837-1906), is born in Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy. Through his profession as an artist, he creates several murals and church decorations.
His paternal grandfather, Eusebio Pesce, (1871-1943), is born in Alessandria, and comes as an immigrant to Argentina in 1900.
He is also a painter. He does some work decorating the ceiling of the Jockey Club, that has its headquarters in Florida Street.
Then for lack of work, he creates a small painting company.

He is attending fifth grade when the constitutional government of Peron is toppled by the military dictatorship.

He Begins factory school General de San Martin, in Chacarita´s Neighborhood. Despite the exposure to art at home, he shows no interest in it. He works as a lathe operator and studies at night.

He graduates with a degree of mechanical technique machines and tools in the Industrial School E. Piñeiro

He takes the preliminaries for the National Technological University, passes and studies only for a few months. He decides to enter the School of Fine Arts Manuel Belgrano.
From that moment, he abandons his previous profession and starts a new phase devoted solely to the visual arts.

He attends drawing courses at the Mutual Association of Students and Alumni of Fine Arts, MEEBA.

He has his first workshop in the neighborhood of Flores, with Osvaldo Rodriguez, Pájaro Lopez y Bastón Díaz.
In the School of Fine Arts Manuel Begrano meets the painter Eloisa Marticorena. He begins to share the workshop she had in 1300 Pedro de Mendoza Street, La Boca.
Very important exhibitions happen this year in the Di Tella Institute, like those of Le Parc, Badii and Antonio Berni. There was much contrast between the artist´s thoughts and the school´s teachings.
The Cordobaso explodes. He develops an active membership in political activities that took place in the student field.


He ceases to attend the School of Fine Arts, and works hard in the studio he shares with Marticorena.
Political meetings were held there and Ruano and Carreira, among others, used to attend.
He is admitted as a regular student in The College of Fine Arts Ernesto de la Carcova. His companions include Mildred Barton and Hugo Sbernini, but He attends for only a few months because the repressive character of the current school authorities.
He staged his first exhibition of drawings in the room MEEBA.
He begins a series of reliefs in carved and lacquered wood.

He marries Eloisa Marticorena and lives in a home studio in the neighborhood of Flores.
He accepts a position as an art teacher in MEEBA.

He begins working on a series of pencil drawings in which, with a uniform and impersonal line, he attempts to blend the technical with the artistic design.
He is awarded first prize for drawing in the National Salon of Fine Arts, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He begins a series of drawings that reflects the social and political environment.
He is awarded the 4th Prize in Visual Experiences, Van Riel Gallery.

He exhibits drawings of the series created in 1972 at the H Gallery.
He is awarded the Sesostris Vitullo Prize in Sculpture, Municipal Manuel Belgrano Salon.
A graphic note of the works in H Gallery, signed by Aldo Galli, appears for first time in a publication in The Daily Press.

He begins the series of drawings of immigrants, documented in family photos of his grandfather, father and uncles, who were amateur photographers.

In ¨ The Immigrants¨ series he starts adding colors to the drawings. He exhibits the series in H Gallery.
With Aldo Molina he opens up Pasco workshop, to teach visual arts. It is open from 1975 to 1994.
He obtains a mention in sculpture at the National Salon, and the Second Drawing Prize at the Municipal Salon.
He begins working in the lithographic technique with Carlos Kusnier.
They create a workshop, where, among their personal work, they print lithographs created by Antonio Berni, Aida Carballo and Roberto Paez, among others

The military coup overthrew the constitutional government.
His daughter Malena is born.
He Exhibits the drawings of ¨The Immigrants´ series at Lorenzutti Foundation.

He is awarded the National Grand Prize in drawing for a work of "The Immigrants¨ series.
He receives the Marcelo de Ridder Award in drawing, National Museum of Fine Arts, Buenos Aires, for a work of The Immigrants series. This work belongs to the heritage of the National Museum of Fine Arts.
He is awarded the third prize in engraving, National Drawing and Engraving Salon.
At Vermeer Gallery, he has an exhibition on drawings and lithographs from The Immigrants series.

He takes part in the Benson and Hedges Award at the National Museum of Fine Arts.
He exhibits at Vermeer Gallery a series of erotic drawings and lithographs.
Since 1970, he continues to work with wood reliefs while creating graphic works.

At Praxis Gallery, he shows his wood reliefs made between 1972- 1979.
He will not continue working in volume until the beginning of the series Boxes and Objects from The Cosmic Series in 1993.
He produces a number of prints, in lithography of the character of ¨ROSITA¨, on old postcards with images of lovers. They have a strong kitsch content.
He receives the first prize in engraving at the XLV Fine Art Salon of Rosario, Buenos Aires. He meets the sculptor Mariana Schapiro.

He starts the series Interiors and Drawing with Malena.
The former develops the idea of the painting inside the painting. The artist´s hands are shown in the foreground, drawing the model and its environment. The latter are works performed together with his daughter Malena.
He has an exhibition at Vermeer Gallery with twenty of these paintings.
For a lithograph of the series Interiors, he is awarded the Great Honorable Award in engraving of The National Salon of Engraving and Drawing.

He performs two solo exhibitions in Angelus Gallery and Hoy en el Arte.
He starts an Erotic Series and then the series Those who suffer the rhetoric, and Viva la Clase Media.

He marries the sculptor Mariana Schapiro.

He is invited to participate in ¨Confrontations ¨ an exhibition in the National Museum of Fine Arts. This one is curated by Marta Manni; its consists of the winners of Marcelo de Ridder´s Award.

He shows the series Those who suffer the rhetoric, Viva la Clase Media and Erotica, in Wildestein Gallery.
At the end of the this year, he travels for the first time to Europe, with Mariana Schapiro. They travel around Spain, France, Italy, and Holland during four months.

He has an exhibit at Argentine Engravers, provincial Museum of fine arts, Timoteo Navarro, San Miguel de Tucuman.
In Banco Patricios Foundation, he exhibits lithographs with the Balvanera Group. This group is created by the artist, in 1982, to form new lithographers, show their work and spread the technique.

He presents a retrospective of his lithographic work in Banco Patricios Foundation.
He participates in the 2nd. Habana Biennial.
He starts painting with acrylic on canvas.

He exhibits the series Costanera Sur at Wildestein Gallery. It is a critical look at the ecological reserve and pollution of the Rio de la Plata.

With a painting done with his daughter Malena, 13 years old, he gets an honorable mention in the V Bienal de Arte Iberoamericano-Domec,Mexico.

He begins a series of paintings with cityscapes and starry skies.
He starts the cosmic series. It arises from the use of old celestial letters showing heavens, which represent mythological figures.
Images are becoming more abstract as it is based on ideas suggested by reading about quantum physics, chaos theory, similarities between Taoism and quantum mechanics and similarities between the macro and micro structures.
At Atica Gallery, he exhibits works of the Costanera Sur series.
He is awarded the prize from the CAYC, Art and Comunication centre for a 6 x 2 m mural, which is located in Alto Palermo shopping.
He takes part in the XX International Biennial of Art, Valparaiso, Chile.
He takes part in the performance of ceramic murals for the underground stations of Buenos Aires after being invited by the Recoleta Cultural Center. The process of creating these are open for viewing by the public and his is located at the station on line D, Pueyrredon Station.

With works from the cosmic series, he makes his first individual painting exhibition at Banco Patricios Foundation.

A show of the Tamarind Institute of the United States is exhibited at The National Museum of Fine Arts. He is invited to exhibit lithographs as part of it.

At a solo exhibition held at the Rubbers Gallery he shows his series “Circles and Circuits” composed of works on circulars media, which show the view from satellites overlooking the Earth and the similarities between the macro and micro.
He is called by “Asociación Arte sin Techo” to carry out a mural in 107 Medrano St.
The artist creates a sketch which is then made into a mural through the work of many, including the homeless population.
He wins in the 4th Egiptian International Print Triennale, El Cairo, Egypt the Silver Medal.
